One Atlético star seals exit, as another prepares for Saudi Arabia

La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have on Monday agreed to the sale of a member of the club’s defensive ranks.

The player in question? Çağlar Söyüncü.

Stopper Söyüncü, for his part, spent the 2nd half of this past season out on loan, away from Atlético.

Just six months on from putting pen to paper on terms in Spain’s capital, the former Leicester City standout secured a return to his home country, with Fenerbahçe.

And, on Monday, Söyüncü’s Fener switch has been made permanent.

As per transfer insider Fabrizio Romano:

‘Çağlar Söyüncü leaves Atlético and joins Fenerbahçe on €8.5m deal after signing for Spanish club for free.’

Söyüncü, though, may not be the only imminent departure from Diego Simeone’s ranks.

This comes amid claims that frontman Álvaro Morata, too, is closing on a new adventure away from the Wanda Metropolitano.

The Spanish international is understood to be locked in negotiations with Saudi outfit Al-Qadsiah, amid mutual interest in a summer joining of forces.

Relevo’s Matteo Moretto has confirmed as much late on Monday, with Morata potentially in line to link up with fellow countryman Nacho in Khobar.
