On-loan Barcelona star still can’t earn a matchday call-up at new club

A summer departure from the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has seen his woes continue in Ligue 1, with AS Monaco.

The player in question? Ansu Fati.

Wide-man Ansu was of course allowed to depart Catalunya’s capital on loan earlier this summer.

After a difficult season under the watch of new Barcelona boss Hansi Flick, the Spaniard linked up with the aforementioned Monaco for the season ahead.

The hope was that Ansu would make use of his move to France to rediscover his brilliant best, in the process convincing the brass at the Stade Louis II to splash out on his signature.

As alluded to above, however, such efforts on the part of the 22-year-old, to date at least, have proven unsuccessful.

After being overlooked by Monaco headmaster Adi Hütter during pre-season, Ansu was not even afforded a place on the bench for the club’s Ligue 1 opener against Le Havre over the weekend.

It has been assured that as much comes with the attacker still working towards recovering full fitness, but the early signs don’t look particularly encouraging for Ansu in his new home…
