A member of the loan ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona has already set about convincing those in a position of power at his new employers of the potential merits of a permanent deal for his signature.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who highlight Ronald Araújo as the player in question.
Defender Araújo was of course granted something of a surprise Barcelona departure over the summer. Ahead of a season in which the Uruguayan was expected to set about reestablishing himself as a starter under the watch of Hansi Flick, Araújo was instead allowed to link up with Premier League heavyweights Liverpool.
The transfer came in the form of a season-long loan, through next summer. The deal also features an option to buy, though, set around the €55 million mark.
And if the latest word stemming from Spain and England alike is anything to go by, then this clause could well come into play, in the case of Araújo continuing on his current trajectory.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:
‘Andoni Iraola and the English club are very pleased with the Uruguayan defender’s start. His strong start could lead the sporting management to seriously consider exercising their option if Araújo, who is under contract with Barça until 2031, maintains this level throughout the season.’
