Vinícius Júnior has signed a new deal with Real Madrid until 2027, the club announced earlier on Tuesday.
The Brazilian forward moved to Madrid from Brazilian outfit Flamengo in 2018 and he has lifted 2 La Liga titles, 1 Champions League title, 1 Copa del Rey, 2 Spanish Super Cups, 1 UEFA Super Cup and 2 FIFA Club World Cups.
His new deal at the Santiago Bernabéu, where he has become a key part of Carlo Ancelotti’s team, will run until 30 June 2027.
Vinícius receives award
At the Ballon d’Or gala in Paris on Monday, the 23-year-old received an award for his humanitarian work. His foundation funds an educational app for underprivileged children in Brazil.
The app provides free access to educational resources and this year his personal contribution to the foundation is expected to exceed $1m, rising to $2.5m in 2024.
Didier Drogba – co-host of the Ballon d’Or awards – also congratulated the young forward for his work in tackling racism.
During his six seasons at Real Madrid, Vinícius has made 235 appearances, scoring 63 goals.
