Valencia have on Friday announced the addition of a new face to the club’s goalkeeper ranks.
This comes amid confirmation of a deal with La Liga rivals Athletic Club for Julen Agirrezabala.
Shot-stopper Agirrezabala has for his part taken his place front and centre in the transfer chatter in Spain across the week to date.
As much comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that Valencia had earmarked the 24-year-old as a leading summer transfer target.
On the lookout for reinforcements between the posts following the departure of star no.1 Giorgi Mamardashvili, Los Che, in turn, kicked into gear talks with Athletic Club and Agirrezabala alike.
In the knowledge that he was facing up to another season playing 2nd fiddle to Unai Simón, the Spaniard, in turn, quickly gave the green light to a Mestalla switch.
And as alluded to above, on Friday, official confirmation of the transfer has been forthcoming.
As per a statement across Valencia’s website and social media platforms:
‘Valencia CF have reached an agreement with Athletic Club for the signing of Julen Agirrezabala.
‘The goalkeeper from Gipuzkoa joins on loan for the current season, with the Club holding a purchase option at the end of the campaign.’
