La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Friday named their travelling squad for the club’s opening fixture of the 2026/27 campaign. And it features noteworthy inclusions and exclusions alike.
A new era at Real Madrid is of course set to be kicked into gear this coming weekend. Fresh off José Mourinho’s return to the bench, Los Blancos have been pencilled in for an opening day meeting with RCD Espanyol.
In the buildup to the clash, Mourinho and his staff have been forced to contend with a whole host of fitness problems, with the likes of Rodrygo, Éder Militão and Raúl Asencio ruled out long-term.
And joining such players in missing out on a place in the travelling party bound for the RCDE Stadium are Aurélien Tchouaméni and Endrick. Owing to respective recent fitness complaints, the midfielder and attacker have not been risked for Saturday’s clash.
Afforded call-ups, on the other hand, are several Blancos academy talents, namely Mario Rivas, Jorge Cestero and Alexis Ciria.
