Official: Two Barcelona stars handed international call-ups, as another misses out

Two members of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona have been afforded call-ups for the upcoming U21 European Championships.

The pair in question? Pablo Torre, and Gerard Martín.

Spain’s U21s are set to kickstart their latest round of fixtures this coming Friday, in a friendly meeting with Ukraine.

From here, attentions will quickly shift towards the U21 EUROs, and a round of group stage clashes with Slovakia, Romania, and Italy.

On Wednesday, Santi Denia, in turn, unveiled the squad of players which will set about securing a record-breaking sixth U21 title this summer.

And as alluded to above, featuring front and centre are a pair of Barcelona youngsters.

After enjoying something of a breakout campaign in Catalunya’s capital in 2024/25, Gerard Martín has been drafted in, alongside Blaugrana teammate Pablo Torre, despite the latter’s somewhat underwhelming season.

Missing out, on the other hand, is Fermín López, after an agreement was reached not to call the midfielder up, following his selection by Spanish senior boss Luis de la Fuente for the Nations League.
