Former Barcelona and Girona star Oriol Romeu has this week penned terms with his latest club, Southampton.
As much was made official across the website and social media platforms of the Saints on Thursday:
‘We are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Oriol Romeu, who rejoins the club for a second spell on a contract until the end of the season.’
Romeu has for his part been available as a free agent since all the way back in September.
This comes after Barcelona made the call to terminate the remaining year on the midfielder’s contract with the club.
A number of clubs from across Europe and beyond are in turn understood to have expressed an interest in his signing.
A move to Southampton, though, marks a special one for Romeu and his family, after the Spaniard previously spent seven years on the books at St. Mary’s between 2015 and 2022.
