Official: Sevilla announce manager change as García Pimienta sacked

La Liga outfit Sevilla have on Sunday announced a change on the club’s bench.

This comes amid confirmation that García Pimienta, after a string of results to forget for the Spaniard, has been sent on his way with immediate effect.

It became widespread knowledge over recent days that Pimienta’s position in Andalusia had been thrown firmly up in the air.

This came after a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Valencia made it a quartet of successive losses for Sevilla, dating back to the middle of last month.

After speculation began to mount that several leading figures behind the scenes at The Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán were actively pushing for a change in management, it therefore came as little surprise when, on Sunday, Pimienta’s dismissal was confirmed.

As per a statement across Sevilla’s website and social media platforms:

‘Xavier García Pimienta has been dismissed from his position as Sevilla FC manager . The club has informed the Blanquirrojos that he will step down from his position as manager of the Nervion team after 31 league matches.’

And it did not take at all long for the Nervionenses’ new headmaster to be made official.

This comes fresh off the announcement of the return of Joaquín Caparrós:

‘Joaquín Caparrós will be the coach of Sevilla FC until the end of the 24/25 season following the announcement of
García Pimienta’s dismissal. The club has reached an agreement with the Utrera native to lead the team in this final stretch of the campaign, which has seven matchdays remaining.’
