The request laid out by La Liga giants Real Madrid to have their opening fixture of the new campaign pushed back has officially been rejected once more.
That’s according to a whole host of sources across the Spanish football landscape.
For those who may have missed it, early last month, Real Madrid sent a formal letter to La Liga.
As much came to request for their opening league fixture of the coming season, scheduled for August 19th against Osasuna, to be pushed back to a later date.
The new date proposed was October 29th, with Osasuna understood to have been on board with the idea.
The efforts of those in the boardroom at the Santiago Bernabéu came with Real Madrid, at the time, having still been in the thick of things at the newly-formatted Club World Cup.
As alluded to above, however, after their initial request was rebuffed, Los Blancos have late this week been knocked back once more.
As per journalist Jose Padilla, amongst others:
‘The Real Madrid – Osasuna match will not be postponed, the Judge dismisses the request, and it will be played on August 19 at 9:00 PM. Officially, Real Madrid will have less rest than their rivals.’
