This comes amid confirmation that Thibaut Courtois has been ruled out through a case of illness.
As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of Los Blancos:
‘Following the examination conducted today by Real Madrid Medical Services on our player, Thibaut Courtois, he has been diagnosed with a gastrointestinal viral infection. He will miss the trip to Athens. His progress will be monitored.’
Real Madrid are of course primed to return to action on Wednesday night.
Turning focus back towards matters on the continent, Xabi Alonso’s troops will make the trip to Greece, for a Champions League meeting with Olympiacos.
The capital heavyweights head into the matchup desperate for a bounce-back result, amid a stretch of two draws and a defeat from their last three outings across all competitions.
