Official: Real Madrid star released from international duty

Real Madrid star Dean Huijsen has on Sunday been released from duty by the Spanish national team.

This comes owing to a fitness problem suffered in training last week.

Huijsen was for his part left out of Luis de la Fuente’s squad to face Georgia on Saturday owing to a groin complaint.

And as much has since proven enough to rule the young defender out against Türkiye on Tuesday, too.

As per a statement across Spain’s website and social media platforms:

‘Dean Huijsen has been dropped from the squad for Spain’s final 2026 World Cup qualifier against Turkey due to muscle discomfort that already prevented him from playing against Georgia, and which his club has been kept informed about at all times.

‘As usual, and prioritizing the health and well-being of the player at all times, the Royal Spanish Football Federation has made the decision to release the player.’

Huijsen joins the likes of Federico Valverde and Thibaut Courtois in sitting out his country’s round of November fixtures.
