A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has this week seen his efforts from last season officially recognised by the club.
The player in question? Raúl Asencio.
Stopper Asencio is for his part of course fresh off a breakout campaign in Spain’s capital.
Amid a personnel crisis at the heart of Real Madrid’s backline, the 22-year-old was afforded a sudden opportunity at senior level.
And this is a chance which Asencio went on to take full advantage of, courtesy of a number of fine performances.
Nevertheless, as recently as this past weekend, the Spaniard remained registered with Real’s Castilla outfit.
But as alluded to above, on Monday, Asencio’s emergence has been aptly recognised by those behind the scenes at the Santiago Bernabéu.
As showcased below, the defender has been officially promoted to Xabi Alonso’s squad, registered as a first-team player on Real Madrid’s website.
