Official: Real Madrid announce latest signing

La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid have on Monday announced the latest addition to the club’s first-team ranks.

This comes amid confirmation that now-former Chelsea star Marc Cucurella has put pen to paper on a long-term contract in Spain’s capital.

The name of defender Cucurella of course dominated the headlines across Spain and England alike over the last 24 hours.

After word was forthcoming that Real Madrid had entered the race for the left-back with force, ensuing confirmation quickly followed that Los Blancos had reached a transfer agreement with their Chelsea counterparts.

Early this week, it has therefore come as little surprise to learn of Cucurella’s Bernabéu switch being made official.

As per a statement across Real Madrid’s website and social media platforms on Monday:

‘Real Madrid C. F. and Chelsea FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Marc Cucurella, who will be linked to our club for the next six seasons, until June 30, 2032.’

Real Madrid are understood to have forked over an initial €55 million fee to land the Spanish international.
