La Liga giants Real Madrid have this week announced a considerable setback on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation that star frontman Kylian Mbappé is set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.
Xabi Alonso’s squad are fresh off reconvening in Spain’s capital, following a short break for the festive period.
Kylian Mbappé for his part spen much of his vacation in Africa, to attend the group stage fixtures at the AFCON.
As alluded to above, though, whilst away, the Frenchman appears to have been unaware that he was actually carrying an injury.
As per a statement across Real Madrid’s website and social media platforms on Wednesday:
‘Following tests carried out today by the Real Madrid Medical Services on our player Kylian Mbappé, he has been diagnosed with a sprain in his left knee. His progress will be monitored.’
Though the exact extent of his absence is yet to be confirmed, Mbappé looks certain to miss Los Blancos’ return to action against Real Betis this weekend.
