Official: Real Madrid announce fresh injury blow

La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Monday announced a major setback in the club’s first-team ranks.

This comes amid confirmation that Éder Militão is set for a potentially lengthy incoming spell on the sidelines.

As per a statement across Real Madrid’s website and social media platforms:

‘Following tests conducted on our player Éder Militão by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a rupture of the biceps femoris tendon in the left leg, specifically affecting the proximal tendon. His progress will be monitored.’

Militão of course set alarm bells sounding across Spain’s capital on Sunday evening.

As much came upon the Brazilian being forced into a premature departure from Los Blancos’ La Liga meeting with Celta Vigo.

En route to a damaging 2-0 defeat for Xabi Alonso’s troops, Militão went to ground in evident discomfort during the first-half.

After being seen to by the hosts’ medical team, it quickly became clear that he was in no fit state to continue, giving rise to a swift withdrawal for Antonio Rüdiger.
