Official: Real Madrid announce fresh injury blow

La Liga leaders Real Madrid have on Monday announced a fresh setback on the fitness front in the club’s first-team ranks.

This comes amid confirmation that Franco Mastantuono is set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.

As per a statement across Real Madrid’s website and social media platforms this afternoon:

‘Following tests carried out today on Franco Mastantuono by Real Madrid’s medical department, the player has been diagnosed with pubalgia. His recovery will be monitored.’

It is currently unclear just how long Mastantuono is expected to be out of action, but the summer arrival in Spain’s capital looks certain to miss tomorrow night’s trip to Anfield in the Champions League.

He was restored to a starting berth in Real Madrid’s La Liga meeting with Valencia this past weekend, and saw out the full 90 minutes in a 4-0 triumph.

But manager Xabi Alonso, for the time being at least, looks set to be forced to make do without Mastantuono’s contributions moving forward.
