La Liga giants Real Madrid have this week confirmed a fresh personnel setback in the club’s first-team ranks. This comes amid confirmation that Ibrahima Konaté is set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.
Stopper Konaté is for his part fresh off a largely positive start to life in Real Madrid colours, since his free agent summer arrival from Liverpool.
Alongside Dean Huijsen, the 27-year-old has established himself as first-choice in the central defensive ranks of new head coach José Mourinho.
Konaté, in turn, was last week afforded a place in Zinedine Zidane’s maiden France national team squad.
As alluded to above, though, just days on, the one-time RB Leipzig standout has been forced to depart Les Bleus’ camp. As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of Real Madrid on Thursday:
‘Following the tests carried out today on our player Ibrahima Konaté by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a collateral ligament injury in his right leg. Awaiting progress.’
