Official: Real Madrid announce €150m transfer offer

La Liga giants Real Madrid have confirmed that they today launched a €150 million bid for Florentino Pérez’s mystery transfer target.

The subject of the mammoth offer in question? Julián Álvarez.

Real Madrid president Pérez of course announced his intention to table a club-record transfer proposal late last week, as part of his campaign to be reelected at the Bernabéu.

A whole host of leading players from across Europe were in turn tipped as being in the sights of the Spanish patron.

As alluded to above, though, in the end, it was a player plying his club trade on the other half of the Madrid divide who was in fact desired by Pérez and co.

As confirmed in an official statement released by Real Madrid on Tuesday evening, the club have seen a bid worth €150 million for Julián Álvarez rejected by Atlético:

‘Real Madrid C. F. announces that, following the meeting of the Board of Directors held today, it has made an offer of 150 million euros to Club Atlético de Madrid for the federative rights of the player Julián Álvarez.

‘After reviewing and evaluating the offer, Club Atlético de Madrid has expressed its gratitude for the proposal, made within the framework of the good relations between both clubs, and has rejected it, referring to the player’s release clause.’
