Official: Long-time Barcelona transfer target joins Bayern Munich

A player long linked with a move to La Liga with Barcelona has on Wednesday officially taken his talents elsewhere.

The player in question? Luis Díaz.

The name of wide-man Díaz of course returned to the forefront of the headlines in Barcelona earlier this summer.

As much came after the Colombian was earmarked as a leading transfer target on the part of those in the boardroom at the Camp Nou.

Amid a search for reinforcements out wide, Díaz was considered the ideal profile to add to Hansi Flick’s squad.

In the end, Barca instead opted for a more affordable option, bringing in Marcus Rashford after Liverpool refused to lower their demands for Díaz.

And as alluded to above, as much has since culminated in the former Porto man linking up with another of the continent’s leading clubs.

The outfit in question? Bayern Munich.

As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of the German champions:

‘FC Bayern have signed Colombia international Luis Díaz from Premier League champions Liverpool. The forward has been handed a contract in Munich until 30 June 2029 and will wear the number 14 for the German champions.’
