La Liga basement dwellers Almería sack boss Gaizka Garitano

La Liga strugglers Almería have this evening confirmed the dismissal of head coach Gaizka Garitano.

As much, of course, comes amid what has proven a historically difficult campaign for the Andalusian outfit.

Almería, as things stand, sit dead bottom of the table in Spain’s top-flight.

This comes owing to the most remarkable record of 10 draws, 18 defeats, and not a single victory to date.

Their 28-game winless run marks the longest-ever in La Liga, ensuring that Almería have etched their names firmly into the history books of Spanish football, for all the wrong reasons…

Despite having actually been condemned to the wrong side of the scoreline in just one of their last five outings, it should in turn come as a surprise to absolutely none to hear of the board at the Power Horse Stadium, today, taking action.

As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of the Indálicos, manager Gaizka Garitano has been sent on his way with immediate effect:

‘UD Almería and Gaizka Garitano reach an agreement that ends the relationship between both parties. The club thanks the coach for his professionalism during his time as a Rojiblanco and wishes him luck in the future.’
