A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona has been left out of the club’s latest matchday squad.
The player in question? Frenkie de Jong.
Dutch international De Jong has for his part endured something of a hectic week to date.
This comes with the former Ajax man having been forced to sit out training on more than one occasion, whilst tending to his partner ahead of the birth of their 2nd child.
De Jong, in turn, is not thought to be fully up to speed when it comes to Barca’s plans for this weekend.
And as alluded to above, as much has since culminated in the 28-year-old being completed omitted from boss Hansi Flick’s latest squad.
Ahead of Barcelona’s gameweek 2 meeting with Levante on Saturday evening, De Jong has not even been afforded a place on the bench, with the Blaugrana’s matchday selection, in full, showcased below:
