A former member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has this week linked up with fellow countryman Neymar Jr. at club level.
The player in question? Philippe Coutinho.
Experienced Brazilian international has for his part been away from competitive football since February of this year, after terminating his contract with Vasco da Gama.
The 34-year-old, though, recently made known his availability for a return to the pitch. From here, a number of Brazilian clubs are in turn understood to have expressed an interest in his services.
And as alluded to above, early this week, one such suitor have beaten out the competition to his signature. As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of the aforementioned Santos:
‘Santos Futebol Clube has finalized the signing of Philippe Coutinho for the remainder of the season. With his renowned technical skill and game vision, along with a winning career in Europe and the Brazilian National Team, the midfielder joins Peixe on a contract valid until the end of 2026.
‘Welcome to the Kingdom of Football, Coutinho. Go get ’em!’
