La Liga outfit Elche have on Saturday unveiled the latest addition on the club’s bench, with Martín Anselmi the tactician chosen to lead the Franjiverdes into a new era.
Elche have of course been on the lookout for a new head coach since late in May.
This comes after Eder Sarabia, fresh off guiding the club to another season in Spain’s top-flight, announced his surprise decision to step down.
The brass at the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero in turn drew up a shortlist of targets, featuring a number of recognisable names from across the Spanish football landscape.
As alluded to above, though, in the end, Elche’s board have opted for a less familiar option.
As per a statement across the Franjiverdes’ social media platforms:
‘Martín Anselmi will be in charge of continuing Elche CF’s sporting project. The Argentine coach and the club have reached an agreement for him to become the first-team manager for the 2026/27 season, with an additional year linked to achieving certain objectives.’
