Official | Diego Simeone extends stay with Atletico Madrid until 2027

Diego Simeone has officially signed a new long-term deal at Atletico Madrid, which commits him to the club until June 2027.

Simeone has finally put pen to paper after accepting the conditions of his new deal with new salary terms agreed. His salary per season is expected to be reduced by between 45% and 55%.

Both parties maintain the standard escape clauses of previous contracts, which revolve around compensation based on qualification for the Champions League or a potential call from Argentina.

The Argentine coach surpassed Luis Aragonés against Sevilla in March, as the coach with the most games in the dugout of the capital club. Simeone is the most successful in the club’s history with eight titles and has coached the same team for the most consecutive seasons in La Liga.

Simeone was appointed in December 2011 and since then has coached 642 games, winning 380 matches in the process. During this time, the club have won eight titles, including two league titles, one Copa del Rey, two Europa Leagues, two European Super Cups and one Spanish Super Cup.
