Official: Barcelona youngster signs new contract

A highly-regarded member of the youth ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has this week put pen to paper on fresh terms with the club.

The player in question? Jofre Torrents.

Torrents, for those not familiar with his name, is an 18-year-old defender, who generally operates at left-back.

The Spaniard has been on the books of Barcelona since 2018, building a reputation for himself as a potential first-team star in the making along the way.

Torrents is cirrently plying his trade with the Blaugrana’s U19s, but is expected to be afforded a call-up to Hansi Flick’s senior squad for pre-season training this summer.

All associated with the Catalans, in turn, will no doubt be delighted to hear of the latest update on the young defender’s future.

As per a statement across Barcelona’s website and social media platforms on Tuesday:

‘FC Barcelona and player Jofre Torrents have reached an agreement to extend the full-back’s contract for three more seasons, so he will remain linked to the club until June 30, 2028.’
