La Liga giants Barcelona have on Saturday announced a personnel blow in the club’s reserve team setup.
This comes amid confirmation that Alexis Olmedo is set to go under the knife, to resolve a knee injury.
As per a statement across Barca Atlètic’s social media platforms:
‘Barça Atlètic player Alexis Olmedo has an injury to the outer meniscus of his left knee. He will undergo surgery in the coming days, and once the operation is completed, the Club will issue a new medical statement.’
News of Olmedo’s impending absence will come as a heavy blow for Juliano Belletti and the Barca Atlètic.
The 19-year-old had played a key role for the Catalans over the early weeks of the new term, to the tune of eight league appearances.
There is concern that Olmedo could now be sidelined for several months, leaving a sizable hole at the heart of the Barca Atlètic backline.
