Official: Barcelona youngster ruled out for 12 months

A highly-regarded member of the reserve setup at La Liga giants Barcelona is set to miss the next year through injury.

This comes amid confirmation of the extent of the recovery schedule awaiting youngster Sama Nomoko.

Nomoko for his part set alarm bells sounding in Catalunya’s capital last week.

As much came upon the 17-year-old being stretchered out of Barcelona’s UEFA Youth League meeting with German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt.

Nomoko’s distress was immediately clear upon the winger going to ground, giving rise to loud screams of pain.

After an ensuing round of medical tests, it was confirmed that the starlet had suffered a torn ACL.

And as confirmed across Barcelona’s website and social media platforms, following surgery, Nomoko’s recovery period has been scheduled at ‘around 12 months’:

‘Barça Atlètic player Sama Nomoko underwent successful surgery for a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, with associated injury to both menisci of the same knee, which occurred during the last UEFA Youth League match against Eintracht Frankfurt.

‘The intervention was carried out at the Barcelona Hospital and was carried out by Dr. Joan Carles Monllau, under the supervision of the Club’s Medical Services.

‘The expected recovery time will be around 12 months.’
