An up-and-coming member of the goalkeeper ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has committed his immediate future to the club. This comes amid confirmation of Iker Rodríguez putting pen to paper on a new contract.
Rodríguez, for those not familiar with his name, is an 18-year-old goalkeeper, held in hugely high regard behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.
The starlet is currently plying his trade with Barca Atlètic, but is considered a potential future first-team star in the making. In fact, Rodríguez has already trained with Hansi Flick’s senior squad on several occasions, as well as taking his place on the bench on matchday in La Liga.
Safe to say, then, that all of a Blaugrana persuasion will no doubt be delighted with the latest word stemming from the club’s offices.
As per a statement across Barcelona’s website and social media platforms:
‘FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with Iker Rodríguez to extend his contract for three more seasons, until June 30, 2029. The agreement also includes an option to extend for two additional seasons.’
