A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has been named Champions League Player of the Week following the latest round of fixtures.
The player in question? Fermín López.
Youngster Fermín is for his part of course fresh off an outing to remember on the continent.
Restored to Barcelona’s starting XI for the club’s meeting with Greek heavyweights Olympiacos, the 22-year-old proved himself the star of the show.
En route to a 6-1 Blaugrana rout, Fermín notched a fine hat-trick, to take his tally for the season to five goals in seven appearances.
As much culminated in the Spanish international being nominated for the Champions League Player of the Week prize.
And as alluded to above, on Thursday afternoon, Fermín has secured precisely as much.
As per a release across UEFA’s social media platforms, the attack-minded midfielder has beaten out competition from all of Felix Nmecha, Gorka Guruzeta and Dennis Man to clinch the prestigious award:
