A leading member of the first-team ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona on Saturday underwent a successful surgical procedure.
The player in question? Joan García.
Goalkeeper Joan has of course seen his name emerge as an altogether prominent one in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the last 24 hours.
Unfortunately for club and player alike, however, as much comes for less than positive reasons.
After playing his part in Barcelona’s 3-1 victory at Real Oviedo on Thursday night, word was forthcoming that Joan had suffered an injury.
Following a round of medical tests on Friday, it was in turn confirmed that the 24-year-old would be forced to go under the knife, to solve ‘a tear of the internal meniscus in his left knee’.
And as alluded to above, on Saturday, Joan indeed underwent a successful surgical procedure.
As per a report from Barcelona insider Víctor Navarro:
‘Joan Garcia, already operated on for the meniscus in his left knee. It went well, and the recovery time of 4-6 weeks is confirmed.’
