Official: Barcelona star joins former Blaugrana teammate in Catalan NT squad

Barcelona star Marc Bernal has on Thursday been called up for national team duty with Catalunya.

This comes amid the youngster’s ongoing efforts to work himself back into match fitness, following a year on the sidelines with an ACL injury.

Bernal was not called upon by Spain’s U21s for the November break, with Hansi Flick and co. keen for the 18-year-old not to be exposed to competitive conditions for extended periods just yet.

Barca this week did give their blessing for Bernal to join the Catalan national team setup, though.

Catalunya are primed to face off with Palestine in a friendly fixture in the city of Barcelona next Tuesday.

And midfielder Bernal, as confirmed on Thursday, has been included in the call for the matchup.

The Spanish starlet will be joined in the upcoming Catalan training camp by a former Blaugrana teammate, after Pau Víctor, now of Braga, was also given the nod to face Palestine.
