Official: Barcelona staff hit with 2-match bans

Two members of the first-team coaching staff at Barcelona have on Wednesday been hit with sanctions on the part of La Liga.

This comes amid confirmation that Marcus Sorg and José Ramón De La Fuente have both been slapped with two-match suspensions.

Blaugrana assistant manager Sorg and goalkeeper coach De La Fuente were shown respective red cards en route to the club’s 3-1 victory over Deportivo Alavés this past weekend.

As much came owing to what were deemed excessive protests towards the team of officials.

Both in turn sat out last night, as Barca put Atlético Madrid to the sword at the Spotify Camp Nou.

The hope on the part of Hansi Flick and co. was that this would mark the only fixture which the pair were forced to miss.

As alluded to above, however, this will in fact not be the case.

As confirmed by Jijantes, amongst other Spanish outlets, Sorg and De La Fuente have been hit with two-match bans, meaning they will also not be on the touchline for Barcelona’s trip to Real Betis on Saturday.
