La Liga giants Barcelona have on Saturday announced a fresh addition to the club’s goalkeeper ranks.
The player in question? Eldar Taghizada.
Taghizada, for his part, is a 21-year-old goalkeeper, who spent last season plying his trade with CD Lugo in the 3rd tier of Spanish football.
After seeing his contract expire, however, the Azerbaijan youth international is since understood to have held discussions with a number of clubs, over contract terms.
And, this weekend, talks with one such club have officially borne fruit.
As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of the aforementioned Barcelona, Taghizada has committed to the club through the summer of 2026.
He will now link up with Albert Sánchez’s Barca Atlètic for the season ahead.
‘FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with player Eldar Taghizada to join Barça Atlètic. The goalkeeper, born in Baku on 30 May 2003, arrives on a free transfer after having spent last season at Lugo.’
