Official: Barcelona & Real Madrid stars miss out on Ballon d’Or

The winner of the 2026 Ballon d’Or award has been officially announced on Monday evening. This comes amid confirmation that La Liga’s leading stars have missed out.

A three-way race for to be crowned world football’s best player had of course long emerged, between Kylian Mbappé, Lamine Yamal, and Harry Kane.

Across the day to date, mounting speculation pointed towards Real Madrid frontman Mbappé – fresh off a brace against Barcelona last night – as the imminent victor.

As alluded to above, however, in the end, neither of Spanish football’s leading representatives did enough to clinch the coveted accolade.

Instead, fresh off nothing short of a historic 12 months in front of goal for Bayern Munich and England alike, it is Harry Kane who has been named the 2026 Ballon d’Or winner.

The prolific frontman was handed his trophy at the London ceremony a short time ago, amid a mixed reception on the part of those watching on.

Congratulations, Harry Kane!
