Leading figures from the respective first-team setups at both Barcelona and Real Madrid have this week been afforded recalls to the Spanish national team squad.
The pair in question? Fermín López, and Dean Huijsen.
Both midfielder Fermín and defender Huijsen were forced to watch on from home this summer, as their international teammates romped to glory at the World Cup in North America.
In the case of the former, as much came owing to injury, whilst the latter’s absence came simply as a technical decision on the part of Luis de la Fuente.
As alluded to above, though, this week, both players have earned for themselves La Roja returns.
De la Fuente’s Spanish squad for the upcoming Nations League schedule was unveiled on Friday, with Fermín and Huijsen featuring front and centre.
Also included were a host of other star names from the two sides of the Clásico divide, including the likes of Marc Cucurella, Rodri and Lamine Yamal.
