Official: Barcelona announce new addition to Hansi Flick’s staff

La Liga champions Barcelona have on Thursday announced a reinforcement to the club’s first-team coaching staff.

The individual to have penned terms with the Blaugrana? Thiago Alcântara.

The name of ex-Barca midfielder Thiago has of course returned to the forefront of the headlines in Spain across the week to date.

This comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that the 34-year-old was all set to rejoin Hansi Flick’s staff.

After spending time aiding Hansi Flick’s settling in period in Barcelona in the summer of 2024, the Spaniard agreed on the terms of a fresh deal with the Camp Nou brass.

And as alluded to above, on Thursday, official confirmation of Thiago’s comeback has arrived.

As per a statement across the Catalan club’s website and social media platforms:

‘First official day on the job for Thiago Alcántara as a member of the coaching staff. The former blaugrana player started work on the grass today as a member of the first team coaching staff as an assistant coach to Hansi Flick. His role will involve helping with tactical aspects and preparing training sessions, among other things, bringing his experience and vision of the game to enrich the squad’s day to day work.’
