The long-awaited signing of African talent Ibrahim Diarra has on Tuesday been made official by La Liga giants Barcelona.
The name of youngster Diarra may be a familiar one to those of a Barcelona persuasion.
This comes after the Malian winger spent a trial period in Catalunya’s capital earlier in the year.
Diarra was brought to Spain by the Camp Nou brass on the back of a standout showing at the U17 World Cup, where he racked up a head-turning five goals and three assists.
And the starlet, evidently, impressed those in the academy setup at Barcelona.
Diarra was in the end forced to depart upon the expiry of his visa late in February, but the Blaugrana hierarchy informed both the player and his entourage that they had every intention of bringing him back after he had turned 18.
And, as alluded to above, on Tuesday, confirmation of his signing as a Barca player has been forthcoming online.
As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of the Catalan club:
‘FC Barcelona and the Africa Foot Academy have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player, Ibrahim Diarra, who joins Barça Atlètic and signs a contract for the remainder of the season and three more, until June 30, 2028.’
