La Liga champions Barcelona have on Tuesday announced a fresh departure from the club’s first-team ranks. The Blaugrana star to have moved on? Marc-André ter Stegen.
Goalkeeper Ter Stegen has of course been heavily linked with a Barcelona exit throughout the summer to date. After returning to base in Catalunya’s capital following a short-term loan stint with Girona, it was quickly made clear to the German that he was considered surplus to requirements.
Ter Stegen’s entourage, in turn, have spent the last couple of months searching for a new home for their client.
After it became clear that no club was willing to fork over a fee of note for a player with a recent history of injury problems, a fresh loan was decided upon as the best route forward for all parties.
And as alluded to above, this week, Ter Stegen’s latest temporary Camp Nou exit has been confirmed. As per a statement across Barcelona’s official website and social media platforms:
‘FC Barcelona and AFC Ajax have reached an agreement for the loan of Marc-André ter Stegen until 30 June 2027.’
