La Liga giants Barcelona have on Friday confirmed a major update in the Spotify Camp Nou reopening process.
This comes courtesy of the announcement of an open training session set to be held at the ground early next month.
As per a statement across Barcelona’s website and social media platforms on Friday:
‘The FC Barcelona men’s football first team will officially return to the Spotify Camp Nou next Friday, November 7, to hold an open training session in front of the Barça fans who are excited at the prospect of seeing the team in the stadium once more. This session will also serve as a technical and operational test to ensure the proper functioning of systems, access points, and various aspects of the facility, as part of the stadium’s gradual reopening process.’
The session, it is added, will be held in front of a crowd in the region of 23,000.
The fans in question will be situated in the Main Stand and Gol Sud areas, the same stands in which spectactors would be expected to take their places upon the Camp Nou opening to the public for competitive fixtures.
Though no further information is provided regarding when exactly Hansi Flick’s troops are likely to play their first outing at the renovated stadium, today’s development is considered a significant step towards Barca’s long-awaited return ‘home’.
