RCD Mallorca have this week announced the signing of an up-and-coming member of the defensive ranks at La Liga rivals Barcelona.
The player in question? Jan Virgili.
Youngster Virgili had of course seen his name feature as a prominent one in the transfer headlines across Spain for several weeks now.
As much comes after the 19-year-old – facing up to a season plying his trade in Spanish football’s 4th tier with Barca Atlètic – was earmarked as a potential market opportunity by a whole host of clubs.
In the end, it was the aforementioned Mallorca who pushed hardest for Virgili, with the player himself having quickly been persuaded by the prospect of lining out for a La Liga club.
And as alluded to above, late this week, the winger has seen his Son Moix wish granted.
As per a statement across Mallorca’s official website and social media platforms:
‘Jan Virgili, new player for RCD Mallorca. The young forward arrives from FC Barcelona and signs for the next five seasons.’
