La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have on Thursday announced a setback on the personnel front in the club’s first-team ranks.
This comes amid confirmation of Clément Lenglet facing up to an incoming spell on the sidelines.
Defender Lenglet was for his part in from the off on Wednesday night, as Atlético Madrid kickstarted the club’s Copa del Rey campaign in a meeting with Atlético Baleares.
Just 10 minutes into the Rojiblancos’ eventual 3-2 victory, however, the Frenchman pulled up with an injury complaint.
From here, Lenglet was quickly hauled off, before being put through an ensuing round of medical tests in Spain’s capital on Thursday.
And as alluded to above, the results of as much have since been revealed.
As per a statement across Atlético Madrid’s website and social media platforms:
‘Lenglet suffers a high-grade sprain of the medial collateral ligament with no associated injuries. The French international, who was forced to leave the match against Atlético Baleares just 10 minutes in, will continue to be monitored as his recovery progresses.’
