La Liga heavyweights Atlético Madrid have this week announced a deal for a fresh addition to the club’s attacking ranks.
The latest player primed to link up with Diego Simeone’s squad this summer? Thiago Almada.
The name of frontman Almada had of course emerged as an altogether prominent one in the media headlines surrounding Atlético over recent days.
This came after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that the Argentine international had emerged as a leading transfer target on the part of the Rojiblancos.
On the lookout for reinforcements in the final third following the departure of Ángel Correa, fellow countryman Almada was quickly identified as the priority target.
And as alluded to above, this week, those behind the scenes at the Metropolitano appear to have landed their man.
As confirmed in an official statement across Atléti’s website and social media platforms:
‘Agreement with Botafogo for the transfer of Thiago Almada. Our club and the Brazilian side have reached an agreement, pending confirmation once the player passes the required medical examination and signs the contract.’
