Official: 1 in, 1 out as Barcelona name squad to face Newcastle

La Liga champions Barcelona have on Wednesday unveiled the club’s travelling squad for their upcoming meeting with Newcastle United.

And it features altogether noteworthy inclusions and exclusions alike.

Barcelona are of course primed to kick their European campaign into gear on Thursday night.

A trip to England to face the aforementioned Newcastle lies in wait for Hansi Flick’s troops.

The Blaugrana head into the matchup fresh off a resounding return to winning ways this past weekend, to the tune of a 6-0 downing of Valencia.

In efforts to replicate such excellence a St. James’ Park, though, Barca will again be forced to make do without the contributions of Lamine Yamal.

The young winger has been omitted from the club’s latest squad, amid ongoing treatment for a groin problem.

On the other hand, returning to the fray is Frenkie de Jong, who has been given the medical green light after also missing out against Valencia through injury.
