A trio of Real Madrid stars made clear their respective feelings that the club should have been awarded a 2nd penalty in their meeting with Girona on Sunday.
This comes after Rodrygo went to ground under a challenge in the hosts’ penalty area late on at the Estadi Montilivi.
Replays showcased the fact that contact was indeed made with the Brazilian, but the team of officials deemed that as much was not sufficient to send him to ground.
With the scoreline locked at 1-1, Los Blancos were in turn denied the chance to take the lead.
And as alluded to above, several leading members of Xabi Alonso’s squad are of the opinion that this was the wrong call.
Faced by the media on their way out of the Estadi Montilivi last night, Rodrygo, Thibaut Courtois and Jude Bellingham provided the following respective replies, when asked if Real should have been awarded a 2nd spot-kick:
“Of course.”
“Of course.”
”Penalty, for sure.”
