Athletic Club forward Nico Williams: “Barça, Madrid and clubs in England are watching me”

The contract of Athletic Club forward Nico Williams is set to expire in a few months with Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid both monitoring his current situation, and as reported by Relevo, Williams has discussed the interest of Europe’s elite clubs.

He said: “Teams like Barça, Madrid and clubs in England are watching me, which means that I’m doing my job well. I have my decision made, I don’t like people telling lies.

“I am clear about the decision I want to make, but in the end, this is something that my representatives, who have been with me since I was 11 years old, are in charge of. And there are my parents, and my brother.

“We’ll see, but I’m very calm and I want to stay that way.”

These statements came just hours after his agent warned the Athletic about Williams’ contract situation. The agent also denied reports that Athletic had put a concrete proposal on the table for the player.

The agent added: ” The club knows what the player’s approach is and what he wants.

“There is no definitive offer from the club or the player. The club must listen to the player and must try to reach an agreement that is good for both parties, always on the basis that in a few months, he finishes his contract, let’s not forget that.”

Aston Villa interest

The 21-year-old recently rejected an offer from Aston Villa, as he felt that it wasn’t the right team to leave Bilbao. However, the Spaniard is only a month and a half away from being able to negotiate with clubs such as Madrid and Barca.
