Former Barcelona star Neymar Jr. has taken to social media, to send a message of heartfelt support to Real Madrid attacker Vinícius Jr.
This comes on the back of another emotional night for Vinícius on Saturday.
Returning to the Mestalla for the first time since falling victim to some of the most shocking racially-motivated abuse in the recent history of Spanish football last season, the 23-year-old enjoyed an outing to remember.
After Real Madrid fell into a shock two-goal hole at the hands of Valencia, Vinícius took the game by the scruff of the neck, netting a brace either side of the interval to ensure that Los Blancos returned to Spain’s capital with a share of the spoils.
Afforded a frosty reception by the home crowd inside the Mestalla once more, it therefore came as little surprise when the Brazilian made full use of the opportunity to take a fresh stand.
Returning to the centre of the pitch after notching his first of the night, Vinícius stood tall and proud, with his fist raised to the sky, a defiant message against racism.
And, as alluded to above, in the hours since, the explosive wide-man has seen his stance backed by a fellow countryman.
Taking to the comments section of Vinícius’ latest Instagram post, one-time Barcelona standout Neymar left little room for interpretation, in writing:
“I love you my boy”
