Newcastle United are interested in signing Marco Asensio, report Mundo Deportivo.
The 26-year-old’s contract with Real Madrid is set to expire in June 2023 and it is believed that Los Blancos have no intention of renewing it.
Asensio was linked with a move away from the Spanish capital throughout the summer transfer window, with Manchester United showing a strong interest in securing the services of the attacking midfielder.
During the international break Asensio revealed that he would be open to moving to Real Madrid’s rivals Barcelona if a suitable offer came through.
However, it appears as though Newcastle United are also eyeing the Spanish international and have already contacted the player’s representatives.
With the player free to sign pre-contractual agreements with other clubs from January 2023 onwards, it may be the interest of Real Madrid to sell Asensio during the winter transfer window so that they receive a transfer fee for his departure.
