New Barcelona signing forced to change phone number to escape abusive calls & messages

New Barcelona signing Joan García has endured an altogether difficult time of things over the course of the last week.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Sunday provided an insight into the situation.

Goalkeeper Joan is of course fresh off sealing a highly-anticipated move to Hansi Flick’s Barcelona.

After dazzling en route to helping Espanyol avoid relegation to the 2nd tier of Spanish football, the 24-year-old was rewarded by way of a dream move to one of the continent’s very best clubs.

As alluded to above, though, across a week which should have been full of celebration and jubilation on Joan’s part, he was in fact subjected to an altogether challenging time of things.

As revealed by Sport, amid an ongoing backlash on the part of the Espanyol faithful:

‘After receiving numerous threats on his mobile phone and calls with a hidden phone, he chose to stay at home and only go to some friends’ houses despite being on holiday.’

So persistent did the issues become, that Joan, in turn, was left with no choice but to change his mobile phone number.
