A somewhat bizarre story surrounding the respective arrangements of the first-team squads at Spanish football’s two leading clubs this weekend has come to the fore online.
This comes amid the understanding that Barcelona’s staff and players could yet cross paths with their counterparts from none other than Real Madrid.
José Mourinho’s Blancos squad have made the trip to Catalunya this weekend, to kickstart their La Liga campaign in a meeting with Espanyol. And it just so happens that the capital heavyweights booked into the same hotel which Barcelona are making use of for preparations ahead of their own clash with Elche on Sunday.
The Blaugrana’s summer signings yet to find permanent accommodation in the city are in fact understood to be sleeping at the property in question.
As per a report from Spanish journalist Victor Navarro:
‘Right now, they’re at the same hotel in Barcelona: Rodri, Mourinho, and the entire Real Madrid squad. It’s the same hotel where Barça are staying and where the new blaugrana signings are sleeping. And Madrid chose it before playing vs Espanyol.’
